KOINONIA GUIDE SERVICE FISHING REPORT 03/6/10

Hi Gang,

The river was at 4.2 with 18,300CF of flow and 46 degrees at the beginning of the week and at the end of the week we had 4.4 with 21,000CF of flow and 30.8 degrees. The BP was 30.55 and steady.

1. Trip #1 – Guide Scouting Trip - This was on Monday and we fished from 9:00 – 4:30 PM and we and we boated 31 Smallmouth. The largest was 22.50” and we caught it on a stickbait. We caught them on soft plastics, hair jigs and stickbaits. We had 4.2 – Steady – Clear – 18,000CF and 42 degrees. It was sunny, cool and breezy with a BP of 30.15 and Steady.

2. Trip #2 – Guide Scouting Trip – This was on Tuesday and we fished from 12:30– 4:30 PM and we boated 26 Fall Fish and 3 Bass. The largest was 18’” and we caught it on a Craw Papi. We caught them all on soft plastics. We had 4.2 – Steady – 18,200 CF – 40-41.6 degrees. It was cloudy and cold with a BP of 30.15 and Falling.

3. Trip #3 – Guide Scouting Trip – This was on Tuesday and we fished from 2:30 – 5:30 and we boated 30 Walleye and 1 Bass. The largest Walleye was 18” and the largest bass was 17”. We caught them on soft plastics and jig & minnow. The largest walleye came on a grub. We had the same conditions as listed above.

4. Trip #4 – Guide Scouting Trip – This was on Thursday and we fished from 4:15 – 5:45 and we boated 6 Smallmouth and the largest was 15”. We caught them all on soft plastics. We had 4.3 – Steady -20,600CF – 40.5 degrees. It was cloudy and windy with a BP of 30.00 and

5. Trip #5 – Guide Scouting Trip – This was on Friday and we fished from 3:15 – 6:15 and we boated 24 Walleye. The largest was 15.5” and we only had two keepers. We caught them on soft plastics and jig/minnow. We had 4.4 – Steady – 21,000CF – 41 degrees. It was cold and windy with a BP of 30.30 and rising.

6. Trip #7 – Guide Scouting Trip – This was Saturday and we fished from 7:00 – 9:30 and we boated 7 Smallmouth. The largest was 17” and we caught them all on soft plastics. We had 4.4 – Steady - 21,000CF – 38.4 degrees. It was windy and cold and we had a BP of 30.55 and steady.

7. Trip #8 – Guide Trip – This was on Saturday morning and we fished from 6:00 – 11:30 and we boated 5 bass and 7 walleye. The larges bass was 19.5” and the largest walleye was 15.5”. We caught them on soft plastics and jig/minnow. We had the same conditions as above.

8. Trip #9 – Guide Trip – This was on Saturday evening and we fished from 3:30 – 6:00
and we boated 1 bass and 7 walleye. The bass was 13” and the largest walleye was 16.5”. We caught them on soft plastics and jig/minnow. We had the same conditions as above.

9. We had plenty of Walleye when we pre-fished for them but on Saturday they did not cooperate as well. Was it due to the water temperature drop? I doubt it as this does not normally effect the Walleye as much as bass. Was it because of the excessive boat pressure? Quite possibly but that is something we can’t control.

11. Now would be a great time to book a Smallmouth Trip if you are looking to land big fish. The fish are coming out of the winter blues and as the water continues to warm there metabolism will increase.
